Lynn Nimee listens as her husband Joe explains his war story about a French village during World War II. Next month, the Spring Valley man will be awarded "Chevalier" of the Legion of Honor by the French consulate in Chicago -- an award similar to the U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor. The village, and now the nation, is showing their appreciation to Allies soldiers by honoring Nimee, who was among the Americans who liberated the town.
